Spelling the short vowel sound /ĕ/ : e or ea

Complete these well-known sayings. Choose from e or ea.

Remember: the most common way to spell the /ĕ/ sound is to use just the letter e.
Only use ea for the words listed under 'ea as in bread' on the last page.
