The basic 'Building Bricks' of the English language

In this unit you have learned some important facts about the way the English language works:

The English alphabet can be divided into vowels and consonants which are represented by different letters or groups of letters
Words can also be broken up into syllables and by separating words in this way they can become easier to spell
We can change the meanings of words by adding extra bits to them – prefixes at the beginning and suffixes at the end.
