Word for Wednesday: Kairos

This week’s Word for Wednesday takes its name from the Ancient Greek God of Opportunity: Kairos

The word Kairos means ‘the supreme moment’ – or in simpler terms the chance to do or say the right thing at the right time.

Isocrates, the Ancient Greek rhetorician wrote that educated people are those ‘…who manage well the circumstances which they encounter day by day…

Consider the word Kairos as a reminder not to miss out on opportunities as they arise these might be as mundane as finding time to do the ironing, or to more complicated pursuits such as working on a new project even taking a bold step by meeting new people and going to new places.

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
